Syntagma Square

All Projects

Syntagma Square, the central square of modern Athens, sits in front of the Greek Parliament building. A popular gathering spot, the square features trees planted for shade and a large mid-19th-century water fountain in the centre. A significant historical landmark, Syntagma Square still plays a crucial role in the contemporary city’s commercial and political life.

MARBLE USED

Pentelikon Marble

Pentelic marble from J.PAPA was expertly used to complete the entire square, an area with a high volume of pedestrian traffic. The result was a beautifully crafted public space, showcasing the exceptional quality and elegance of this renowned marble. While the flooring has been changed over time in programmes of works revitalising the heart of the city, the original fountains, stairs and benches fabricated by J.PAPA, with their intricate and demanding craftsmanship, remain unchanged.
